The Strokes – I’ll Try Anything Once. Thanks to my lil’bro who re-found this gem.

My Bretagne roadtrip was cut short and I was thrown straight into a shoot for Urban Outfitters, via an ominous flight back with RyanAir, I arrived back to a soggy England. The sun came out for the shoot though. Taking place in a townhouse in Dalston, it was one of the most relaxing shoots I have been on for a long time.

Last week I laid eyes on this shoot by Craig McDean for Interview Magazine (March 2010), styled by Karl Templer. I had originally pulled it aside as image research for a music video us (design studio) are working on. It’s slightly raunchier than my normal image pulls for my blog, but I resonated with the overall feel of the story; a debauched, slightly glamorous, squat party we would all like to stumble upon, in the early hours of the morning after the night before. More reason to post a Karl Templer shoot now, as I have been asked to prep for the next few days on his Mert + Marcus cover shoot for Interview Magazine.
One of my favourite shoots from Spring/Summer comes from Arena Homme+, photographed by Alasdair McLellan and styled by Jane How. “It Couldn’t Happen Here” took place in Doncaster where McLellan hails from, starring; Dree Hemingway, Imogen Newton, Tom Lander and Darryl from D1 Models. It reminds me of a marginally more glamourous version of Somerstown and This Is England, and echoes those feelings of nostalgia and reckless youth that we all yearn for from time to time.
Finally, it’s here! We shot this music video for up and coming artists Pushing Hands (MySpace) two months ago, it’s finally been finished and we all love it so hope you do too. Watch ‘Between Us Now’ here.

Big up to my boys at us (design studio) and DELS (aka Kieren Dickens). The music video the boys directed for DELS had it’s exclusive premier on Dazed Digital today, and the song was played on Radio 1 non-stop this weekend just gone. Recently signed to Big Dada, who represent Diplo, Roots Manuva and Wiley amongst others; you can view ‘Shapeshift’ here and watch those talented boys sky-rocket.
By The Naked And Famous, hailing from New Zealand. Already overplayed; refuse to grow up, begin your obsession and plug your ears in here. Everything else can wait.
A friend of mine recently directed a commercial for cycle safety. Ghosts is a reminder of all those lives lost on our busy roads; it provokes a quiet reflection on the ghostbikes that we encounter everyday, but sometimes can be overlooked in our usual haste. As always, Christopher Hewitt’s direction is beautifully executed and Ghosts will stay with you for some time. See more work here from the Lancashire boy in the Big Shmoke.
